CULTURE NEWS

  • Bangor Beautiful and the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce ask local artists to submit black and white Bangor-themed designs with a brief statement on how each design represents our city.   • Literacy Volunteers of Bangor seeks volunteer tutors to help adult learners as more than a dozen students wait for assistance. The organization will hold tutor certificate training on Wednesday, Mar. 25, and aims to add 30 volunteers by month’s end.  News Center Maine

  • NOAA is reviewing a 20-year-old rule that slows vessels in whale habitat—conservation groups warn that changes could endanger right whales while Maine fishermen cite higher trip costs.   • Employees from Northern Light Health will wear blue on Friday, Mar. 6 to raise awareness for early colorectal cancer screening at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft.
