  • Two MDI labs will get over $7.3M in state and private funding from the Maine Technology Asset Fund. The Jackson Laboratory will renovate its Bar Harbor building to create a Humanized Mouse Model Production Facility — MDI Bioscience will modernize its space to boost translational research.  Bangor Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife released its 2025 moose harvest report today, recording 2,309 kills from 4,075 permits with a 57% success rate for standard + adaptive hunts while indicating 76% of harvested moose were between 0.5 and 4.5 years old.  The Piscataquis Observer

  • Two Narraguagus High School teens caught a 15-pound lake trout while ice fishing on West Grand Lake during their February vacation. Parker Scully, 14, and Branden Alley, 15, battled the trophy fish for 20 minutes before releasing it as a prized local catch.  Bangor Daily News

  • Lawrence Bulldogs seniors Maddie Provost and Ashley Shores combined for 56 of their team's 65 points in a regional championship win against Gardiner last Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, setting up their Class B state championship game later this week (with 29 and 27 points respectively).  Bangor Daily News
  • The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches has announced finalists for the Miss and Mr. Basketball awards, selecting three senior girls and three senior boys from local schools.
