  • Maine’s 17th Restaurant Week runs March 1–12 and nearly 40 restaurants will offer three-course menus costing $38, $48 or $58 per person. Opening day starts with Spirit Quest, a self-guided cocktail & bites tour in Portland’s Old Port and Arts District that benefits a local nonprofit.  Bangor Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Penobscot Theatre Company is performing Darker the Night, Brighter the Stars in Bangor through March 8. The play follows young Mainers facing challenges with identity and relationship changes on a warm summer night with the Perseid meteor shower — a local display of creativity.  WABI 5
  • Mumford and Sons will play a rock concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater at the Bangor Waterfront on Tuesday, June 16 — tickets go on sale next Friday at 10 a.m. Special guest Dylan Gossett will join the band for the event.  WABI 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UMaine demolished Crossland Hall on Wednesday in Orono as part of its plan to remove the 1833 building due for modernization. The site will host an expanded parking lot and the Franco-American Centre will relocate to a renovated building next year; local critics dispute its historic value & condition.  WABI 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor and Needlepoint Sanctuary are launching a six-month pilot syringe program today to provide clean syringes and safe disposal amid a rise in HIV cases in Penobscot County. Health officials say the program will help connect users with treatment and reduce harm.  News Center Maine
  • UMA dental students and faculty provided free dental care for kids on Friday with cleanings, exams and other services as part of National Give Kids A Smile Day in Bangor + the program supports early oral hygiene and offers students valuable hands-on experience.  FOX Bangor

SPORTS NEWS

  • Caribou High School senior Liv Adams, recovering from a season-ending knee injury, scored an uncontested layup in the Class C North semifinal tournament at Cross Insurance Center — a generous sportsmanship gesture from opposing coach Pat House in the final seconds.  Bangor Daily News
  • Girls regional basketball finals are set for Saturday at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, with Class S starting at 10 a.m., Class D at 2 p.m., and Class C at 7 p.m. All matchups feature teams known for strong defense & low scoring games.  Bangor Daily News
  • The Lawrence Bulldogs won the Class B North title by beating the Gardiner Tigers 65-53 on Feb. 20 and will face south regional champs Oceanside in the state finals next weekend at the Cross Insurance Center.  Bangor Daily News
