  • The Mainely Music Chorus spread joy across Bangor on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 — their performance celebrating love and community spirit in a heartfelt show.  WABI 5
  • Local families celebrated Lunar New Year early on Saturday at the Maine discovery museum in partnership with the Bangor Chinese School, featuring a dragon dance + traditional foods. Organizers said they plan to make the celebration an annual event to highlight Chinese culture.  FOX Bangor

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • 114 soldiers of the 136th Engineer Vertical Construction Company returned from deployment to Saudi Arabia on Feb. 14 after completing over 70 infrastructure projects worth nearly $800,000. The unit now bolsters Maine communities as they resume local service.  WABI 5

  • Central Aroostook’s Panthers eked out a 39 — 36 regional win over Woodland yesterday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. The team relied on tight defense — including forcing 32 turnovers — to hold off a late rally as they looked to reclaim their champion status.  Bangor Daily News
  • Ellsworth Eagles beat MDI Trojans 47-42 in a high school basketball semifinal at Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, Feb. 14 during the Class B North tournament. The game highlighted deep community ties as families from Ellsworth and Bar Harbor cheered the teams.  Bangor Daily News

  • On Saturday, Feb. 14, Cony boys basketball from Augusta thrilled the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor with a series of powerful dunks during a 63-51 regional tournament win over Presque Isle; Parker Morin led with 21 points as senior forward Ben Hanke sparked the dunk party.  Bangor Daily News
  • Bangor sophomore Nate Grunkemeyer scored 11 of his team-high 17 points in the final 7:14 to help the Rams rally from a three-point deficit and beat Lewiston 54-43 at the Augusta Civic Center Friday night.
