- ➤ The 6th District Masonic Association will host a chili/chowder and soup cookoff on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Elks Lodge on Oldin Road in Bangor to raise funds for the Maine Veterans’ Home + the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $5 entry fee. WABI 5
- ➤ Bucksport 9-year-old Olivia Kirby wrote her book 'Olivia and the Color of Kindness' to help educate peers about bullying, drawing from hurtful comments about her hair & skin tone. Her work aims to inspire kindness at schools and homes. WABI 5

- ➤ Data from the Maine Department of Public Safety shows Maine roads are more dangerous in summer, with an average of 74 traffic deaths (compared to 43 in winter) as increased travel volume drives the risk. News Center Maine

- ➤ Husson University's Soaring Eagles Healthcare Clinic is expanding this semester with a mobile physical therapy unit—built with a grant from the King Foundation—to offer screenings in off-site locations and boost student learning. - ➤ On Wednesday, the Maine Connectivity Authority announced that $48.4 million will help connect 22,000 homes and businesses to high+speed internet as part of a federal effort to improve service statewide. WABI 5
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Bangor said that if Bangor Mall owners do not settle a dispute over repair issues within 45 days from Jan. 30, they must pay over $1.1 million. Namdar Realty Group is working to complete repairs, which must finish by June 15, despite winter delays. WABI 5
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Machias, Bangor Christian and Madawaska will compete in the Class D North tournament. Machias is favored after starting 14-0 + has strong senior leadership, while the other teams look to upset records with their standout players and tourney experience. Bangor Daily News
