ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A sinkhole opened on Main Street in Bangor, prompting officials + emergency crews to examine the area and manage traffic disruptions. They are checking the road's safety and advising drivers to take alternate routes.  WABI 5

  • Bangor local Dongyang Palmer launched her new Chinese-American fusion restaurant Billy & Mao at Korean Dad in Veazie, where it operates every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and serves healthier, home-cooked dishes with an American twist.  WABI 5
  • Pride Manufacturing Co. plans to close its Burnham plant on April 14 due to falling customer demand — 115 employees will receive above-minimum severance packages, a lawyer said, and the firm, which made Lincoln Logs since 2014, was founded in Florida in 1930 and moved to Maine in 1956.  Bangor Daily News

  • WinterKids announced its documentary For the Joy of Winter: 25 Years of WinterKids will air on Maine Public Television on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. with encores later, marking 25 years of outdoor programs that help Maine children enjoy winter.  The Piscataquis Observer
  • Pitbull will perform a summer concert + feature crunk legend Lil Jon at Bangor’s Maine Savings Amphitheater. Tickets for the Aug. 31 event go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30 with presale starting Jan. 28.  Bangor Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Central Maine Healthcare discovered a data breach in June that exposed details for over 145,000 patients – including roughly 138,000 Mainers – with names, dates of birth, and treatment records affected.   • Local buyers are under contract to purchase Hermon Mountain Ski Area — preserving its 40-year legacy — and promising to expand its use for skiing plus weddings and special events, with the sale expected to close by the end of winter.  News Center Maine
