- ➤ The East Millinocket and Millinocket departments are mourning the passing of retired Lieutenant Warren Nelson—who began his service in 1982 and later placed flags on the graves of fallen officers in the Katahdin region. His decades of dedication will be remembered by the community. FOX Bangor

- ➤ Maine's longest-running tabletop gaming convention, SnowCon, returns for its sweet 16 celebrations at the Black Bear Inn and Conference Center in Orono on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18; gamers can sign up online for sessions, open tables and a play-to-win library. FOX Bangor
- ➤ Devyn Brasslett, 19, from Glenburn holds the USOA Miss Maine 2026 title and is using her 'Caring for Cardiac' platform to gather donations for the cardiac unit at Northern Light EMMC — she will compete in the nationals in Vegas in March. WABI 5
- ➤ The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association has unveiled this year’s poster depicting a border collie with sunflowers & celebrating rural life as part of the 50th Common Ground Fair, which will be held Sept. 25-27 at MOFGA's headquarters in Unity while the contest for the 2027 poster design remains open online. - ➤ City officials confirmed that a sinkhole has opened on Main Street near the Railroad Street intersection, closing southbound lanes and narrowing northbound lanes until repairs are complete. Drivers should expect delays as lane restrictions may continue into today. WABI 5

- ➤ Fifth-year UMaine forward Adrianna Smith may make history if she gets a second assist in Thursday’s 6 p.m. America East home game against defending champ Vermont; she is a two-time All-America East selection and ranks in the top 10 in points, rebounds and assists + leads her team. - ➤ Hampden Academy's girls basketball team used a 10-0 run and senior center Grace LaBree's 12 points and 10 rebounds to win 37-27 over Bangor Tuesday night at Red Barry Gym. Bangor is now 8-3 and missed key guard Avery Clark in the contest. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ Camden Hills beat Brewer 73 to 63 Tuesday night as senior Nolan Ames scored 19 crucial fourth-quarter points to keep the team unbeaten at 10 to 0 and coach Joel Gabriele praised the quick transitions that sparked scoring opportunities. Bangor Daily News
