- ➤ Bangor native Rogan O'Donnell, a Husson graduate with 30 years in clinical mental health, has released the documentary InhuMAINE to show Bangor's homelessness crisis. The film is used in schools and all proceeds support mental health projects (education events forthcoming). WABI 5
- ➤ Hermon Mountain in Hermon (20 minutes from Bangor) is a family-owned ski area with 350 ft of vertical drop and 21 trails that offers daily lessons for school groups and local residents, building close community ties amid Maine's long winter. WABI 5

- ➤ Jacqlyn Rand launched her home kitchen business, The Way We Were LLC, earlier this month to sell jams, breads and baked goods, and customers can now pick up her products at Devon’s Kitchen in Hermon and Main Street Design and Floral in Newport. WABI 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bangor City Council will consider forming a task force to address homelessness at its Monday meeting as advocates from Reach Ministries and the local shelter push for long-term support — including job training and affordable housing. Council members expect to decide soon. News Center Maine
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Six former UMaine women’s hockey players will compete in the Winter Olympics in Italy next month, representing Czechia, Finland, Switzerland & Germany. Their games begin on Feb. 5, with matchups against Sweden, the United States, and Canada. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ University of Maine freshman left winger Justin Poirier earned a national co‐forward of the month honor in December after scoring six goals and three assists in five games. He became only the third UMaine player in 14 years to win a national monthly award — marking a rare achievement. Bangor Daily News
- ➤ UMaine lost two defensive players as free safety Devin Vaught transferred to Michigan State and nose tackle Jaedin Lee joined Rutgers, while the football program added four new players from Division II + Division III and a junior college. The moves were confirmed by 247Sports. Bangor Daily News
